Breath Works / Pranayama

BOOK THIS TREATMENT

What is Pranayama?

Pranayama is made up of 2 words Prana meaning life force, chi and Ayama means expansion or extension.. There is a word  yama at the end of Pranayama, which means Control. So we can say that Pranayama is Expansion and Extension of Prana through control.
Pranayama consists of Puraka ( Inhalation), Rechaka (Exhalation) and Khumbaka (Retention Of Breath). If there is no Khumbaka, there is no Pranayama.
INTRODUCTION

How does it work?

Pranayama works on our Mind and body. It relaxes and calms our Sympathetic Nervous System which is responsible for the response of “fight or flight” and stimulates the Parasympathetic Nervous System responsible for relaxation and rest.

It activates Nadis or Energy pathways by clearing, cleansing and strengthening the Nadis and also balances the Chakras or Energy centres. There are 72,000 to 320,000 Nadis , out of which only 4 are important. There are ida,(Left, Moon, Cool) Pingala (Right, Sun, Heat ), Sushumana runs up the centre of the spine starting from a little bit down Muldhara (root chakra) all the way into Sahasrara (crown chakra)  the top of the head. And Brahmana Nadi is the core of Sushumna Nadi starting from Anahata chakras to Sahasrara (Crown Chakra).

There are different types of Pranayama to be practised in different seasons to get maximum benefits.

We can customise Individual sessions according to individual needs.
